| Dear Parents:
I am Dr. Edna Tello, a licensed, board certified pediatrician and fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. After working for more than five years for a traditional pediatric practice, I decided to convert all the services that I was already providing into my own practice, Personalized Pediatrics. We offer personalized and convenient pediatric care for children 0-18 years old.
Though the concept of this practice is innovative, it reaches back to the good times when doctors were a part of the family and going to a patient’s home was part of the routine. Unfortunately, due to the increasing cost of medical services, medical and liability insurance, and the lack of reimbursement from insurance companies, pediatricians and other specialists have been forced to convert their small practices into large groups in order to survive. This has caused a lack of continuity and patients to become just another number. One doctor usually sees 38-40 patients daily and approximately 3,000-5,000 patients annually! As a result, personal treatment has become extinct. The patient/doctor relationship has suffered. Not only do patients have to wait for more than an hour in a crowded medical office filled with sick children, but the visits seem almost drive-by, short and impersonal. In fact, the patients often leave with the same or more unanswered questions. One doctor becomes a myriad of doctors in the same office, often whoever has the time.
Our service is different. It is personal, professional, and special. We come to you! When something concerns our children, we often want the best. That is what Personalized Pediatrics provides. We have the opportunity to listen to mom and dad, take the time to examine the patient, and answer all questions relating to the health of a newborn or even about that teenager that may be giving you a hard time. We talk about nutrition, school problems, and development and behavior. In addition, parents have 24/7 access to us by phone or e-mail, as well as easy access to their medical records. Visits are scheduled Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Sick visits can be accommodated same day or within 48 hours. If a referral to a specialist, special agency, or lab is needed, we will help you with that process in a very efficient and considerate manner.
Our main objective is that children remain healthy by developing healthy habits that contribute to successful growth and development. Prevention is the goal of personal care. We want to minimize frequent sickness, obesity, school problems, and unnecessary emergency room visits by educating parents and their children.
Because our panel of patients is limited, the care is exclusive and personalized, therefore there is an annual family membership fee not reimbursed by insurance. The visit fees are separate and maybe processed and reimbursed through your insurance company. |
