Meet Dr. Tello

Dr. Edna Tello is a board certified, licensed pediatrician and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  She earned her Bachelors of Arts in Chemistry and Spanish from the University of Miami and attended University of Connecticut School of Medicine, staying to complete her residency at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.  Upon her return to South Florida, Dr. Tello joined a large, flourishing practice where she discovered the need for a more personal, customized approach to medicine that emphasized education and prevention, and family over finances.

She treasured teaching parents and establishing relationships with her patients, so in 2005 Dr. Tello invited South Florida back home by establishing the first concierge pediatric practice to serve Broward and south Palm Beach. Since then, Personalized Pediatrics has specialized in personalized care, house calls, and old-fashioned charm, coupled with the latest technology. But Dr. Tello didn’t stop there. Her passion for community education and prevention has landed her segments on both local and national television where she often speaks about trending pediatric issues. She has been featured in a commercial for Pediatric Drowning Prevention, has appeared on Univision’s Despierta America, and currently graces a billboard and the side of a city bus as a representative of Broward Health. Her tireless drive has enabled her to publish numerous articles in parenting magazines and other local publications.

Yet she carves out time to put her body and soul behind children’s causes, running half marathons to raise over $10,000 for Saint Jude’s Hospital and battling China’s Great Wall to raise over $3,000 for the Edna Mae McGovern Charity for drowning prevention, a cause she confronts daily as Chair of The Pediatric Drowning Prevention Task Force at Broward Health Coral Springs. Under her leadership, this task force promotes local efforts for education and prevention and positively impacts our communities, a dire necessity, considering that drowning is the leading cause of death in children under 4 in the entire country. From March 2011 to March 2015, Dr. Tello also served as the Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Broward Health Coral Springs, in addition to being a professor of Pediatric Medicine for the pediatric residency program at Broward Health Medical Center/NOVA Southeastern School of Medicine. Even with all this, she never forgets her family, where she is wife to Dan, a middle school teacher at a prestigious Prep School in Fort Lauderdale, and mother of two beautiful children, Daniel and Sarah.
